Improved Scalability and Increased System Capacity

With a capacity of over 1,000 sites, Gen2 is designed for NEXEDGE systems operators and users, particularly in public safety, utilities and large-scale manufacturing as well as other facilities with multiple sites, requiring communications over a wide area.

WHY GEN2?

Boost your network scale

System limitations and a constricted coverage footprint are no longer realities of your day-to-day operations. Maintain control of valuable assets throughout your region with the capability to reach up to 1,152 sites. Whether your operation is interstate, multi-county or even national, with Gen2, you maintain the same high level of secure communications throughout the network. This is a cost-effective and easy to implement solution for even the most demanding coverage requirement.

Built on a proven digital protocol

NEXEDGE® is an established international standard for digital radio operations. Users throughout the world rely on NEXEDGE for superior audio clarity, expanded coverage, spectrum efficiency and the ability to deliver performance from conventional operation through multi-site trunking and a smooth transition to digital. With Gen2, this trusted standard reaches new levels of performance that align with what you need in a digital network.

IP Networking

Whether you operate a convention IP network or trunked wide area IP Network, Gen2 brings the power of IP to link sites for wide area roaming and calling using existing IT assets including private microwave, spread-spectrum links or carrier services using standard 10/100 base-T Ethernet switches and routers. Gen2 is your answer to seamless integration with your existing IP assets.

FEATURES

SYSTEM DETAILS

System Controller Server

Browser based configuration means more flexibility and provides up to 1,000 users can be provided with password and access control. Unified firmware version control automatically updates to the latest firmware and improved log management guarantees consistency.

Optional Site Controller Server

Removing the site controller functions from the repeater greatly reduces the stress on the site and allows for more features to be added to the system. Required for sites with 10 repeaters or more and 30 repeaters per site controller server, it allows for management of repeater programming, firmware updates and communications in parallel with the system controller server.

System Bridge

This option is required for multi-system configurations and can connect up to 24 system, with one system bridge per multi-system. This is what allows for wide area coverage that duplicates a local network, supporting all call and data types and allowing for seamless auto-roaming.

SOLUTIONS

Utilities

An iron-clad system with immediate accessibility is crucial in both voice and data communications. Gen 2 allows you to expand to multiple sites and tie together asset management systems, such as SCADA, with communications systems robust enough for any emergency situation. Expansion is easy through Direct Frequency Assignment, allowing for efficient site/channel additions, simplified to the point that all equipment and subscriber units are notified automatically. Without the need to bring in subscriber units, you save time and money. Increased GPS capacity allows for rapid assessment and deployment of critical assets.

Manufacturing

Even in high noise environments, NEXEDGE radios deliver crisp, clear audio. The expanded coverage capabilities of NEXEDGE means that you can have encrypted, seamless voice communications throughout multiple facility locations in a region or across multiple states, for rapid coordination of goods, materials and personnel.

SMR Operators

More coverage means more customers. With Gen2, you will expand your coverage, allow you to offer services to new and different types of users and also add features that save you time and encourage your customers to increase their air time. With the NEXEDGE System Bridge, you can expand from 48 to 1,000 sites/24 networks for a nearly 250% increase in connectivity. Go state-wide or regional and deploy new features like schedulable stun/kill to prevent unauthorized access and/or theft of radios. Also, with Direct Frequency Assignment (DFA) you can easily update your system to add subscriber units to expand with your customers’ requirements.

Transportation & Logistics

You need a system that can keep up with the 24/7 nature of your business. Gen2 has a Fleet Priority Channel feature that allows you to assign a secured priority channel to a specific traffic channel for a group, console or other peripheral. This allows you to select and use a Secured Priority Channel so that your pre-determined first-access voice communications are automatically the first ones addressed.

Wide Area Coverage

GPS is the ideal tool for wide area coverage, and Gen2 boosts the accessibility of this valuable tool. The System Controller is aware at all times how many GPS-equipped subscriber units are on duty, maximizing traffic capacity for data transmission while reducing GPS data processing time.
